Confidant Notes is built on a simple privacy premise: your patient's information is none of our business. All clinical data – session audio, transcripts, and notes – stays on your device. We have no access to it, no copy of it, and no ability to retrieve it.

Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, access, transmit, store, or process:
- Session audio recordings. Audio recorded through the Confidant Notes app is recorded directly to your device.
- Transcripts. Transcriptions are stored locally, solely on your device.
- Clinical Notes. Generated notes are created and stored locally, solely on your device.
- Any patient information of any kind. We do not have access to patient information, including names, dates of birth, diagnoses, treatment information, session content, or any other information relating to individuals receiving care.
- Health Information. We do not have access to Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). We do not hold, collect, or process health information as that term is used in the FTC's Health Breach Notification Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 318).
- Usage patterns or behavioral data. We do not have access to information about your clinical practice or usage of the Confidant Notes app, including how many sessions you record, which notes formats you use, or any other operational details.
The Confidant Notes app does not transmit any data to Apple or collect Apple telemetry. However, macOS may collect and transmit diagnostic and usage information to Apple independently of the Confidant Notes app, depending on your macOS privacy settings. This is outside our control and is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
How We Use Your Information
We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information:
- To present our Website and its contents to you.
- To provide you with information, products, or services that you request from us.
- To fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it.
- To provide you with notices about your account/subscription, including expiration and renewal notices, license confirmations, and security notices.

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers behind firewalls. Any payment transactions, license validations, and update checks will be encrypted using TLS technology.
The safety and security of your information also depends on you. The security of the clinical data on your device – including session recordings, transcripts, and notes – is your responsibility. We recommend enabling macOS FileVault or other protections, using a strong device password, and maintaining encrypted backups.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Website. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Website.
Confidant Notes LLC is based in the U.S. If you access the Website from outside the U.S., your information may be processed and stored in the U.S. or wherever our service providers operate.
